Time management: how to achieve more by doing less
June 9th, 2009 by Nadine Hill - The Dream PAWe live in the age of information. You can find advice on love, personal finance, business, cooking, parenting, health, travel and style but what about on creating your future?
Time management is one of the key disciplines anyone needs to have to get where they want, but it’s always been a subject with a slightly boring image. Not any more! Longtime Make Your Mark Ambassador Nadine Hill of The Dream PA also writes the blog Time Management Mum, the UK’s only blog dedicated to time management tips for women (especially mums – they need it the most!). Nadine talks us through her top tips on time management…
“I use the term ‘time management’ as it is a widespread phrase used to indicate the concept of prioritising, getting things done and generally putting structures in place to move forward. But when you do the acts of prioritising, ticking things off the ‘To Do’ list and creating the right environment to move forward, you start to get the life that you want – one step at a time.
“Managing your time first requires a little introspection, some digging into your own values and beliefs to find out what in life is important to you. By knowing your own priorities, you can properly manage your activities and control the demands placed upon you so you spend more of your time pursuing the interests that will move you forward towards your goals.”
The blog is a favourite of busy mums, but Nadine is a firm supporter of girls and young women too. She says: “My daughter is just 6 now and I want her to know that she can do anything when she grows up. I remember how I lacked confidence in my abilities as a teenager and didn’t truly become entrepreneurial until I had my daughter when I set up my business to have a more flexible schedule. I wanted to help more girls and young women find their inner confidence, realise their dreams and get the motivation they need to succeed.”
To ask any questions surrounding how to get exactly what you want in life and other future related issues, post a comment on the blog and Time Management Mum will answer!
