Happy List
April 20th, 2009 by hbourneThe Independent on Sunday published a ‘Happy List’ this weekend – encompassing the top 100 people who who make Britain a better and a happier place to live.
There is a diverse list of people on there, including I might add, two very odd entries; Thomas the Tank Engine and Simba (a dog). They are clearly not PEOPLE which I thought was the point of the list.
Anyway withholding those errors there are some good people on the list including entrepreneurs Sophi from Divine Chocolate, Sam Roddick of Coco de Mer and Andrew Thompson of Sign Now. And not forgetting my own personal hero David Attenborough (I love ‘im I do).
I’ve done my own top ten Happy List based on entrepreneurs and those in the enterprise community. So, here goes…
- Martha Lane-Fox – serial entrepreneur who had to overcome a car crash to get back on top (and we love happy karaoke at Lucky Voice!).
- Priya from Masala Masala – amazing one woman dynamo who has got her business up and running in a short amount of time (and during a recession!)
- Michelle and Sam from Livity – we like their style and they do good stuff
- Vincent from Tossed – he had an idea and boy did he make it happen. And he provides rather excellent salads which make our lunchtime meetings happier.
- Richard Reed from Innocent, whether you agree with them selling a stake to Coke or not they make excellent smoothies
- Ali Clabburn from Liftshare.com – getting cars off the roads!
- Fraser ‘jam boy’ Doherty – who could fail to be inspired by his story?
- Sarah from Pai – a friend of mine who swapped careers to become an entrepreneur. Success is sweet when it happens to someone you know
- Jenny Hudson, Sweet As, one of the first businesses I came across when I started working for Make Your Mark and makes the best chocolate cakes ever
- David McQueen, all round good egg and champion of young people
Who would be on your list?!
