Students Brewing at Brew!

Today I have been at Brew Tea Bar were teams of students from 5 schools across Merseyside have been taking part in the Brew Tea Challenge.

Make Your Mark Ambassador – Phil Kirby set Year 12 students from All Saints High School, Bebbington Sports College, Broadgreen International High School, Carmel College and Pensby High for Girls the challenge of creating a new tea blend and designing a poster campaign for the new tea.

Phil opened his Brew Tea Bar in August this year and it is going from strength to strength and when I spoke to him about Enterprise Week and he mentioned this challenge we were delighted to invite schools along to take part.

Today the students have been tasting different teas, learning how flavours work together and blending their own tea that they created. Following on from this they worked out the cost of producing the tea, the price they would retail the tea for and how much they predicted they would sell. They then went on to think of the name for the tea and design a poster to promote the tea in store.

This has been a fantastic opportunity for the students and it doesn’t end here, the winning team will be invited back to Brew on 1st December to see the tea that they have designed go on sale in the Brew Tea Bar during December along with the poster they designed having been made up and displayed in store to promote their product.

Judges included Paul from Agent Marketing, Beccie from Hill Dickisnon and Liz from KPMG and the winners will be announced later this week.

Phil is fully behind Enterprise Week and along with hosting this challenge for students he is also hosting networking session for women in Enterprise, enterprise drop in sessions and he is working with another Make Your Mark Ambassador Su Grainger to host Singing Our Socks off and the first session tonight is free as part of Enterprise Week

This has been a fantastic start to Enterprise Week in the North West with Make Your Mark Ambassadors giving inspiration and real business like experiences and opportunities to young people
