What happened to the Ideas Igloo Roadshow Winner?

August 8th, 2008 by katef

I decided to email James Clarke the winner of the igloo roadshow to see what progress he had made with his winning ski lock design and I was delighted when this response came back…

hi kate,

how are you doing these days??

I’m actually sat in an internet cafe in Laos (south east asia) having a well earned chillax!!

with respect to the ski lock- i have been working hard at finalising the design ready for testing & manufacture. far easier said than done though!!!! a month or so ago, i had to take the design right back to conceptual stages & have been working on a simpler device that is easier to manufacture but serves the same purpose. this was simply because my previous design was too costly to manufacture and the mechanism was becoming a little too complicated!!

while I’m in south east asia, I’m hoping to get some prices for manufacture & shipping.

i have had a fair amount of interest from potential investors but I’m not quite ready for it yet, before then i need a finalised design that has been through testing etc… I’m not quite there yet because i’ve been far too busy with my degree (it paid off though, i got a first!!). i hope to make more apparent progress on my return to the uk.

kind regards,

james
